Welcome to the Konini Primary School Website
Staffing This term we have employed three new staff members. We welcome Amy Ririnui to the position of Office Assistant, Lydean Herman to the position of Teachers Aide and Adrienne Nelson to the position of part-time Teachers Aide. Celebrations – Artsplash, Netball, Rugby, BP Challenge We have had an eventful time over the last two weeks with children out at Netball, Artsplash, Rugby and BP Technology Challenge. The children represented the school exceptionally well at all events and their behaviour was excellent. A big thank you to Prue McIvor and Judy Benseman for their work with the Artsplash Choir and to the children who performed so well on the night. It was a spectacular evening. I hope that parents who attended also got to look at the display of Visual Art in the Town Hall. Konini Primary’s art display was lovely and colourful and the children enjoyed seeing their work displayed with all the other schools. Our Netball team participated in the Inter-zone Netball competition last Thursday at Taita Courts. They played very well and made us all proud of them. Rugby has been a major focus of our week (how unusual!!). On Monday 20 children went into Wellington to play rugby at Civic Square, where they met a local hero. On Wednesday another 20 children had an impromptu visit to the local rugby club rooms to meet members of the Wallabies rugby team and today 65 children are participating in a rippa rugby world cup tournament at Wainuiomata High School. The children have enjoyed all the opportunities and again, have behaved exceptionally well and made us proud. Four senior syndicate children attended the B.P Technology challenge on
Tuesday at Hutt Valley Intermediate, against 15 other schools. They had a prepared challenge to take with
them, which was the gingerbeer they had made.
The children made, bottled, labelled, boxed and marketed their
product. This was then presented for
judging. The team won first place in the
gingerbeer challenge and second place in the mystery challenge – making a back
pack from paper, cellotape etc. Well
done to Timothy and Claudia Room 10, Bexly and Anthony Room 12. Our thanks also to Whaea Louana for allowing
us to use her family gingerbeer recipe. You can find out more about what is happening at the school during the year by clicking on the School Calendar icon below.
